@Caleb (Caydrums) thank you. |
00:46 |
Christopher Dean |
@Billy Little .Peace to you also maybe needs conveying to some of our World leaders also. |
00:50 |
Christopher Dean |
As Hawk Willow says Temps on the up soon, nice way to get them Ready for West Africa if they all venture that far we will never know unless GPS is given a thought. |
06:06 |
Adrian H |
It's going to be hot in that nest today , 26C much of the day. The south east breeze may make it a bit easier for them. |
06:15 |
Pauline Stott |
Morning all, looks like they are waiting for the 1st meal of the day. |
06:35 |
pricey |
Morning! Sunny morning again….. so the ringing might happen in the next two weeks… can’t wait to see who is who 😊 |
06:41 |
Sarah G |
Morning all. Another scorcher. Don't envy them in this hear but then I'm not used to African temps either! |
06:43 |
Jenny Moore |
morning all, so it was a Red Kite circling high over the nest yesterday that upset CJ7 |
06:47 |
pricey |
Morning @Sarah G and @Jenny Moore |
06:50 |
Sarah G |
Morning @pricey |
06:53 |
Mog |
Morning everyone. Phew scorchio! They are going to need a lot of hydration today |
07:02 |
Sylvia Undata |
Morning all! We enjoyed a wonderful evening on the Nightjar experience! |
07:09 |
B2711 |
Morning All. A temp controlled sprinkler on the cam pole would be great. Lol |
07:12 |
Debra Jones |
Morning all. |
07:20 |
Sylvia Undata |
Hiya @Debra Jones |
07:21 |
Debra Jones |
Morning @Sylvia Undata I'm glad you had a wonderful evening |
07:24 |
Sylvia Undata |
Just those evening insects - skin so soft didnt appear to work as well = as before maybe out of date? But worth the few bites |
07:26 |
Debra Jones |
I'll have to remember that |
07:26 |
Sylvia Undata |
So many Nightjars ! But the views were also great & we saw an Osprey catch a fish ( Paul thought it had to be 022!) Stonechats ! Hobbies hearing several Dartfords but none showed. |
07:32 |
Debra Jones |
Sounds amazing |
08:08 |
Karen Daws |
Good morning everyone😊 |
08:09 |
Karen Daws |
Sounds like a brilliant evening @ Sylvia Undata. Good morning. |
08:09 |
Debra Jones |
Morning @Karen Daws it's another beautiful day albeit a hot one. |
08:10 |
Karen Daws |
Morning @ Debra Jones. Yes going to be hot again . |
08:11 |
Jan Brownlee |
Morning everyone. What’s the temperature in Poole @ 08:11 as the babies seem to be panting already? |
08:13 |
Debra Jones |
Morning @Jan Brownlee it's about 19 degrees here at the moment but it's getting warmer |
08:17 |
Jan Brownlee |
Thanks @Debra Jones. Are the babies getting shade from Mum or lining up for breakfast? Wouldn’t it be great if we had 2 females and 2 males …. a good balance. |
08:20 |
Debra Jones |
I think it might be a bit of both @Jan Brownlee 😆 |
08:26 |
Jan Brownlee |
It’s very endearing the way CJ7 looks at the babies … obviously admiring all her hard work! And why not! |
08:29 |
Jenny Moore |
@Jan Brownlee for the Poole Harbour dynasty it is better if we have 4 boys again, they come back to their natal site, whereas the girls all go on to Wales 😂 |
08:29 |
Sylvia Undata |
Getting warm here - I was hoping it would be a bit cooler ( a bit of wind) so I could st in the garden & read today - think Bro will drop by |
08:30 |
Sylvia Undata |
Best we have 4 Boys indeed ...we could do with any of our 2nd year juvs returning |
08:30 |
worthyman |
bobs waiting for breakfast. thinking there will be a scramble this morning |
08:36 |
Sylvia Undata |
scrambled fish go on ..... |
08:36 |
Sylvia Undata |
they are usually Bass |
08:36 |
Sylvia Undata |
Bob4 in the shade |
08:38 |
Jan Brownlee |
Why do the females prefer Wales @Jenny Moore? |
08:39 |
Sev Steve |
I live just along the coast and it's hot here already |
08:40 |
Holmes |
Morning all, I wonder if they will give chick 4 a special number again? |
08:42 |
Karen Daws |
Morning @ Holmes |
08:45 |
Jenny Moore |
I don't know @Jan Brownlee but that's where ours seem to end up, and why not, Wales is a beautiful place |
08:45 |
Sylvia Undata |
@Jan Brownlee the females naturally go elsewhere than there birth place and to a place where there are other Ospreys with spare nests |
08:46 |
Sylvia Undata |
They often have a look at Rutland as well but there are not many spare nests there |
08:47 |
Sylvia Undata |
one or two are begining to spread to other areas of England |
08:47 |
Mog |
+ Lots of male ospreys in Wales @Jan Brownlee 😉 |
08:47 |
Sylvia Undata |
We need our males back who are ot scared of 022 |
08:48 |
Sylvia Undata |
not scared |
08:53 |
Sylvia Undata |
bbl just seen the time! |
09:01 |
Jan Brownlee |
Oh dear … thought 022 was coming in with breakfast as CJ7 was sky watching … he should be arriving fairly soon now I hope as babies are thirsty as well as hungry. |
09:03 |
Jan Brownlee |
I think CJ7 has the same thoughts as she is calling! |
09:18 |
Jan Brownlee |
Does anyone know what temperatures the babies can tolerate at this age? |
09:18 |
Pauline Stott |
Oh haven't these little ones had their breakfast yet.🥲 |
09:23 |
Peter Jeffery |
Seen the chat re hoping for males as they'll then return to mate here: please can someone tell me how many males could stay in the harbour comfortably and would this pair tolerate them or not? |
09:27 |
Jan Brownlee |
I wonder if the fish have spotted O22 and have gone deep! |
09:31 |
Holmes |
It’s an interesting question @Peter Jeffery the harbour has around 10 ish platforms I think |
09:33 |
happyskierUK |
Good morning everyone. @B2711 super sprinkler idea - wonder if they would learn to press or peck something to make it work like some feeder machines with other birds? |
09:33 |
Sev Steve |
come on 022, I don't have my breakfast until the little ones have been fed, |
09:38 |
Debra Jones |
09.37 Fish! |
09:38 |
Sev Steve |
great news we can now all have breakfast, |
09:38 |
Jan Brownlee |
Well done 022 - breakfast has arrived. |
09:39 |
Debra Jones |
enjoy your breakfast @Sev Steve |
09:39 |
Neil King |
I don't think Bob 4 will get a special number this year. Last year's Bob4 was the chosen one for the last of the sequence, rather than being given a special number |
09:39 |
B2711 |
Morning @happyskierUK I was thinking of a thermostat like c/heating but in reverse. So when it gets too warm the sprinkler kicks in like a rain shower |
09:40 |
Sev Steve |
@Debra Jones will do, muselli and a cup of tea, |
09:42 |
Pauline Stott |
Hurrah breakfast is here.Form an orderly queue. |
09:43 |
Hawk Willow |
#4 squeezes in |
09:43 |
Nazarello |
@peter jeffery I think BOPH believe the harbour could support up to 12 nests, but at the moment O22 is seeing off any incomers. They think though that once there are two other potential nesting pairs |
09:45 |
Nazarello |
022 might not have time to worry about them. So fingers crossed if one of the 2023 males arrives, plus 374 it might work ou. |
09:45 |
Nazarello |
Out |
09:48 |
Jan Brownlee |
What a peaceful scene! |
09:51 |
Jan Brownlee |
Do we know which chick is hanging back … has he/she had its fill as I’ve never seen a chick hang back like, this before. |
09:58 |
Hawk Willow |
09:55:12 #1 having a good look over the edge of the nest |
10:05 |
Christine Bourne |
one day they are going to hit the camera with their jet. |
10:22 |
Oliver Carmona |
I love the bobs’ heads moving in unison at 10:18:40 |
10:27 |
Jan Brownlee |
When did CJ7 leave the nest and is she on the CAM pole? |
11:16 |
Diane Smith |
Hi all, just back from the shops and took a look at the brekkie feed and chicks admiring the view after, just hope they don't lose their balance as they will be straight over the edge 😯. |
11:16 |
Diane Smith |
CJ7 not happy |
12:06 |
Adrian H |
@Diane Smith , I would guess CJ7 is disturbed by the jet liners we have arriving at Hurn Airport. Due to wind direction the Carey area is under the flight path , they are flying low and very noisy |
12:06 |
Adrian H |
Temperature here is now 24C and rising to 26C in a couple of hours. |
12:10 |
Diane Smith |
Tks @Adrian H she certainly seems unsettled |
12:11 |
Adrian H |
@Diane Smith , the noise is enough to rattle roof tiles and more than annoying. |
12:31 |
Matthew Johnston |
What a good mum, giving them some shade. |
12:36 |
Helen Clare |
12.35 fish |
13:23 |
Neil King |
@Jan Brownlee with the volume of fish coming to the nest, there's less hard fought for competition at this stage. Last year it didn't get agressive until the chicks started taking control of the fish |
13:45 |
B2711 |
I didn't think it was 'aggressive last year, more like who could get to the fish first and if not then who could steal it. Isn't that... |
13:45 |
B2711 |
...footballers do? |
13:47 |
B2711 |
*...what footballers do |
13:47 |
Joyce Sinclair |
Better view on aerial view at the moment. (13:47) |
16:04 |
Christopher Dean |
CJ7 Has that Osperella to Perfection all shaded. Just keep the Hydration packs coming O22. |
16:38 |
Diane Smith |
Have there only been two fish deliveries today, I only see mentioned breakfast and lunch. |
16:39 |
Debra Jones |
Hi @Diane Smith I've only seen two but i have been popping in and out all afternoon |
16:39 |
Debra Jones |
I may have missed one |
16:41 |
Janet Fullerlove |
I think you are right - I can only see breakfast and then around 12.37 |
16:41 |
Diane Smith |
Ditto @Debra Jones but I think someone would have mentioned it if there had been more. They may not have much of an appetite in the heat anyway, I know I don't! |
16:41 |
Janet Fullerlove |
I wonder why... |
16:42 |
Helen Clare |
or they may need extra for hydration |
16:42 |
Diane Smith |
but on the other hand they must be thirsty! |
16:42 |
Diane Smith |
sorry our chat crossed @Helen Clare |
16:43 |
Helen Clare |
no worries |
16:43 |
Helen Clare |
lots of tweeting at the moment - hoped it might be dad incoming |
16:44 |
Diane Smith |
yes, maybe he's just de-heading a fish now |
16:47 |
Helen Clare |
I do worry about the chicks in this heat |
16:49 |
Helen Clare |
there is someone around |
16:49 |
Helen Clare |
or at least CJ7 thinks so |
16:50 |
Helen Clare |
fish 16.49 |
16:50 |
Sylvia Undata |
16,49 Fish |
16:50 |
Debra Jones |
16.49 fish |
16:50 |
Diane Smith |
and guess who 022 with a 🐟 |
16:51 |
Helen Clare |
front chick looks a bit peaky? |
16:52 |
Helen Clare |
ah - has woken up now - maybe just sleepy |
16:56 |
Diane Smith |
So I wonder if 022 nodded off too as he certainly hasn't been preoccupied fishing for his family 🤔 |
17:04 |
Debra Jones |
He's probably been sunbathing @Diane Smith 🤣 |
17:05 |
Diane Smith |
Must have been something like that as there has been no mention of intruders to chase off |
17:06 |
Diane Smith |
CJ7 asking for more fish? |
17:06 |
Helen Clare |
sounds like it |
17:07 |
Helen Clare |
at what point will she start leaving the chicks to go fishing herself? |
17:07 |
Debra Jones |
Not until after the chicks have fledged @Helen Clare |
17:09 |
Diane Smith |
I once saw a picture of an osprey with a fish in each talon. I think 022 needs to get creative too 😂 |
17:11 |
Debra Jones |
That's quite a feat @Diane Smith |
17:11 |
Diane Smith |
it was a wonderful sight |
17:11 |
Debra Jones |
I can imagine! |
17:18 |
Sylvia Undata |
He has done that once or twice in the past! |
17:18 |
Debra Jones |
17.18 another fish |
17:18 |
Helen Clare |
well done 022! |
17:19 |
Hawk Willow |
022's siesta must have finished |
17:19 |
Diane Smith |
Your wish is my command M'Lady says 022 |
17:19 |
Helen Clare |
it looks quite small - possibly from the river? |
17:21 |
Diane Smith |
perhaps he's been stockpiling them in his favourite dead tree |
17:43 |
Adrian H |
17:18 fish was a Bass from the harbour. |
17:47 |
Helen Clare |
what is she saying now? |
18:07 |
Diane Smith |
looks like she wants to stretch her wings and likely wants to have a bath too! |
18:10 |
Helen Clare |
needs dad to come and watch the kids for a bit |
18:12 |
Diane Smith |
exactly that |
18:18 |
Helen Clare |
CJ7 looking up as if she can see him |
18:19 |
Diane Smith |
more fish! |
18:20 |
Diane Smith |
I was hoping 022 might stay a feed them to give her a break |
18:21 |
Diane Smith |
delivery at 18:18 |
18:31 |
Helen Clare |
I think she's just glad there is food and hydration for her and her babies |
18:44 |
Diane Smith |
CJ7 leaves nest at 18:42 |
18:46 |
Holmes |
Evening all, I wonder if she has gone for a bath |
18:47 |
Diane Smith |
and back at 18:47 |
18:48 |
Diane Smith |
she doesn't look wet so maybe just a bit of a fly around |
18:56 |
Holmes |
CJ did go off fishing relatively early last year didn’t she? I can’t remember when. |
18:57 |
Debra Jones |
She caught an early fish on 3rd of July last year @Holmes |
18:57 |
Diane Smith |
I recall that she surprised us all but I also don't remember when |
18:58 |
Holmes |
Thanks @Debra Jones I knew the chicks were bigger |
18:58 |
Diane Smith |
tks@Debra Jones |
19:01 |
Sylvia Undata |
Well done @Debra Jones your notes from last year are coming in handy! |
19:02 |

She caught her second one on 14th July. |

So is that four fish today so far? |
19:06 |
Diane Smith |
5 if i'm not mistken |
19:06 |

Grey Mullet supper. |
19:12 |
Diane Smith |
correction 6 fish today 😂 |
19:14 |
Diane Smith |
I recall that last year most of 022's deliveries came later in the day, didn't they? He's definitely not a morning osprey |
19:16 |
Adrian H |
@Diane Smith , he's working the rising tides. |
19:19 |
Biggles |
it's easier to see the fish when the sun is at a lower angle. overhead is a bit dazzling! |
19:21 |
Diane Smith |
goid to know @Adrian H and @Biggles |
19:21 |
Adrian H |
@Biggles , he needs Tifosi Optics ) |
19:21 |
Diane Smith |
*good |
19:23 |
Adrian H |
The Grey Mullet are shoaling in the harbour now so there is plenty of easy catches as the tide comes in. |
19:50 |

Good evening everyone. Alyth Livestream with Flora and Harry is back on-line. If anyone is interested. |

If you google Tide Poole Harbour the BBC has a very simple to understand site you can add to home screen. |
20:18 |
AJAY |
Alyth is back on line |
20:20 |
B2711 |
PS: I meant simple for me, not to be patronising to anyone. |
20:25 |
Helen Clare |
wow - that is such an amazing shape. I'd love to understand why.... |
20:26 |
Hawk Willow |
Thanks @B2711 I'd never seen that on the BBC web site before |
20:46 |
B2711 |
Neither had I @Hawk Willow of course I knew the Shipping Forecast. If @Adrian H hadn't mentioned tides I wouldn't have thought to look. |
20:48 |
B2711 |
Can anyone make out what that red is at top left of screen. Mine's too small |
20:50 |
B2711 |
20.49 a large tail delivered |
20:50 |
Diane Smith |
more fish my lovelies at 20:49 |
20:53 |
Diane Smith |
red mark is disappearing now @B2711, could it have been some kind of reflection on the camera lens? |
20:55 |
Hawk Willow |
Fish today - 09:37, 12:35, 16:49, 17:17, 18:18, 19:10, 20:49 |
20:57 |
Debra Jones |
Thanks @Hawk Willow |
20:57 |
B2711 |
That was odd! The 'red line' faded away at 20.53. Perhaps a reflection from the sun? |
21:02 |
Janet Fullerlove |
wow 022 really made up for the earlier dearth of food, with hourly deliveries from later on. Bravo! |
21:03 |
Janet Fullerlove |
Delighted. Full crops, happy Osplets. |
21:09 |
Janet Fullerlove |
@Hawk Willow thank you so much for the fish TS. |
21:10 |
Janet Fullerlove |
It is very reassuring to be able to see that, coming in, knowing when I last looked there'd only been two fish. What a difference. |
21:16 |
Hawk Willow |
Time for one more? Sounds like CJ7 is hoping so |
21:21 |
Barry |
Good evening. Four very healthy well fed chicks. Testament to the skilful parenting of our couple. |
21:22 |
B2711 |
Hi @Diane Smith only just seen your post. Thank goodness that's all it was. |
21:54 |
Peter Jeffery |
A quick question to you knowledge people: I was paddleboarding in the harbour this pm and saw the biggest bird of prey ever go into a black headed gull colony & take a chick |
21:54 |
Peter Jeffery |
would this have been a white tailed eagle? Where do they have a nest? |
22:02 |
Martin W |
G463 M & G466 F hang out a lot in the wareham channel at this time of year. Just feeding themselves |
22:03 |
Martin W |
More than likely WTE |
22:09 |
Mog |
Yes, it would be a WTE and they do take the gull chicks @Peter Jeffery We don't know if they are nesting this year and...we wouldn't be told where the nest was even if they were |
22:12 |
Peter Jeffery |
Thanks. It was huge & brown. I thought they were nesting in the Solent, not here. Surely our Ospreys wouldn't like them here. |
22:13 |
Martin W |
last year they were seen taking prey from passage osprey if they caught big fish during august |
22:16 |
Peter Jeffery |
Stay safe, darling osprey family |
22:22 |
Helen Clare |
there are a lot of other chicks for the WTEs to predate that don't have an angry CJ7 protecting them |
Fri 20-Jun-2025 |
05:28 |
Adrian H |
05:20:52 fresh bass delivered for breakfast. |
06:26 |
Diane Smith |
#4 thought it was having a private little feed until CJ7 turns her back at 5:22:28 and starts feeding the others. #4 then opts for picking up fallen fish bits |
06:29 |
Diane Smith |
6:20:50 CJ7 flies off whilst 022 surveys the nest from the right perch |
06:31 |
Diane Smith |
6:23 CJ7 returns with some nesting material |
06:31 |
Diane Smith |
lovely to see whole family in this view 😍 |
06:36 |
Jenny Moore |
morning all, The People's Trust for Endangered Species (PTES) is asking people to record sightings online as part of its national Great Stag Hunt survey. |
06:36 |
Jenny Moore |
The beetles are mostly found in southern England, excluding the North and South Downs, but there are hotspots in the Severn Valley and coastal parts of the southwest. |
06:44 |
Sarah G |
Morning all.@Jenny Moore I usually do that anyway but this is the first year I haven't seen any yet 😞 |
06:53 |
Lynda C-M |
Good morning all. Just gone over the events so far this morning. Good to see an early breakfast before it gets hot. @Diane Smith What a lovely family this is. I agree, so nice to see them.😍 |
06:57 |
Lynda C-M |
6:30 wing stretching time. |
06:59 |
Diane Smith |
Good to see that CJ7 is getting some time away from the nest this morning |
06:59 |
Lynda C-M |
022 on lookout while CJ7 does a bit of tidying. |
07:01 |
Lynda C-M |
That was at 6:34 |
07:03 |
Lynda C-M |
@Diane Smith Caught up now! Yes, 022 is being very good this morning. First early fish delivery and now offering guard duty while CJ7 gets some respite. 😘 |
07:07 |
Diane Smith |
She's hopefully left for a nice bath and could she surprise us with a fish as she did last year, afterall if you spot a fish whilst having a dip, why not catch it? |
07:09 |
Lynda C-M |
😊 |
07:11 |
Jenny Moore |
CJ7 is on the camera pole, I saw a wobble |
07:18 |

07:52 |

Morning all. Well, it was on the 1st July last year so should be around that date this year @Annette Craddock |
07:58 |
Debra Jones |
Morning @Mog @Annette Craddock |

08.21 Good morning all, lovely to see our pair of proud parents and chicks. |
08:25 |

Morning all, it’s a full house |
08:31 |
Helen Clare |
it is, but I often look at the nest and can't see all 4 and have a brief panic till someone moves |
08:32 |
A19911708 |
That just happened me aswell! Was panicking, could only see 3 chicks! |
08:32 |
Holmes |
Yes the chicks are well camouflaged |
08:47 |

Dyfi are ringing now. 1 female, 2 males |
09:38 |
Sylvia Undata |
Morning all - surprised by the second chick at Dyfi - I thought it was f ( big male!) will await 2 years and his return to see whether it id a male! ;lol ! |
09:38 |
Sylvia Undata |
That was a honey Buzzard WOW? fantastic |
09:59 |
Diane Smith |
It seems that the rings at DYFI have been put on the wrong legs so they look like they are from Scotland whoops.... |
10:12 |
Tuan Ho |
nice ps #4 |
10:31 |
Sylvia Undata |
First year that mistake has happened but as telyn is from Scottish stock ( via Maya) and Idris is probably from Scotland as unringed - well the chick when named can have a Mc in front ( all suggestion |
10:31 |
Sylvia Undata |
from the Dyfi chatters! |
10:32 |
Diane Smith |
I didn't check again, is it just the one chick that is wrongly ringed? |
10:32 |
Sylvia Undata |
All three |
10:35 |
Sylvia Undata |
They chicks are back on nest al happy & well & the parents have visited alls well - the records will record these chicks as Welsh ( with celtic fringes!) |
10:36 |
Diane Smith |
well I think it would be better if they didn't have Scottish names as that would make their origins even more confusing. 😯 |

I hope it's ok to ask this question @birdsofpooleharbour and if not, ignore it but 3 eggs and 2 chicks. Presumably one of the eggs wasn't viable? I'm so excited by this news, congrats to all 🎉 |

Tiger Mozone |
The problem is not nest but how to get the first male to choose the area |
11:02 |
Tiger Mozone |
But we have had the first success in East Anglia very recently |
11:04 |
Adrian H |
So the come back is spreading slowly |
11:05 |
Tiger Mozone |
The spread seems to be gathering speed |
11:06 |
Tiger Mozone |
Yes #4 is noticeably bigger |
11:07 |
Adrian H |
~4 has been very feisty and getting plenty of feed from both parents. |
11:09 |
Tiger Mozone |
Ringing is only about a week away |
11:10 |
Tiger Mozone |
I am glad that the roasting hot weather may be subsiding somewhat |
11:11 |
Adrian H |
@Tiger Mozone , yes, this season seems to have gone very quickly. They'll have grown a lot again by then. |
11:12 |
Adrian H |
@Tiger Mozone , the forecasts for this site today are all wrong. 2 forecasters said it would be 28degrees plus all day, 1 said rain and another said 24C and cloud for midday . It is very humid now. |
11:13 |
Adrian H |
Looks like we may well get rain. |
11:13 |
Tiger Mozone |
Well a bit of rain would be good |
11:14 |
Adrian H |
Forecast tomorrow is for much lower temperatures. |
11:15 |
Tiger Mozone |
All the chicks will soon be through the fast growth stage |
11:15 |
Adrian H |
50% chance of rain between 11:00 and 13:00 |

Tiger Mozone |
In 2018 the hot weather did a lot of damage both at Poole and Rutland |
11:20 |
Adrian H |
@Tiger Mozone , yes the land here was parched, looked like a desert. |
11:25 |
Kate Beard |
Looks like the rain has arrived on the nest |
11:25 |
alan X |
Raining ! also a lot of gunfire going off locally! |
11:26 |
Adrian H |
@alan X , yes a few drops of rain at Carey , sounds like a pigeon shoot going on. |
11:28 |
Adrian H |
@Kate Beard , did you see the videos of the new nest? They are on YouTube and BOPH page. |
11:29 |
Kate Beard |
@Adrian H Oh yesterday was a great nest news day |
11:29 |

14:40 |
happyskierUK |
14.40 Osparasol time. |
15:05 |
Janet Fullerlove |
Can someone please remind me, what were the sexes of last year's 4 bobs here? Mainly male I think? |
15:05 |
Janet Fullerlove |
Ah don't worry - found it written beneath in description |
15:08 |
Janet Fullerlove |
All male. In fact only 2 females fledged from their nests, and 6 male thus far since 2022. Let's hope this year's bob4 is female... |
15:11 |
Diane Smith |
Hi @Janet Fullerlove any reason why you want #4 in particular to be female? |
15:22 |
happyskierUK |
Trying to book an osprey tour at Careys - finding it very difficult - had to leave a phone message. Is it always problematic? 🤞 |
15:32 |
happyskierUK |
15.32 Fish arrives with 022. |
15:40 |
Tiger Mozone |
Although it is still too early to be sure I feel that #4 is female. That is because of the rapid growth in recent time. |
16:13 |
Helen Clare |
from current angle there are no chicks visible at all! |

Looks like 3H9 (Rutland 2023) has found a mate in Rutland, a Rutland male 359 (2021). Too late to breed but hopefully they will bond before migration. I'm so glad she's finally found someone |

Nigel Peat |
Hi, does anyone know if CJ7 is related to Maya from Manton Bay? We recently visited Rutland and, I think, heard that Maya has rasied approx 42 chicks? |
20:30 |
Tiger Mozone |
@Nigel Peat The lineage of Maya is unknown. |
20:33 |
Tiger Mozone |
Maya arrived at Rutland in 2009 (I think) She was thought to be a two year old. |
20:34 |
Tiger Mozone |
She first paired up with Yellow 32 in lagoon 4 but he got shot in 2010 |
20:35 |
Tiger Mozone |
Maya then paired with Green 5R who had the distinction of being the first young osprey to return in 150 years |
20:36 |
Tiger Mozone |
Maya had at least two broods with him but he failed to return in 2014 |
20:37 |
Tiger Mozone |
Then Maya paired up with Blue 28 also known as wonky wing |
20:38 |
Tiger Mozone |
However Blue 33 came along and evicted Blue 28 |
20:38 |
Tiger Mozone |
Blue 33 has been the male at Manton Bay ever since |
