06:47 |
Greeneyes |
Good morning Ruth & I love how they are all back having a nap. |
06:48 |
Paul & Ruth Boughton |
I could join them, Iโm wiped out by the antihistamines |
06:49 |
Greeneyes |
Oh no are you on lots? |
06:50 |
Paul & Ruth Boughton |
Have been badly bitten, was unable to move my arm , but thankfully improving. |
06:53 |
Greeneyes |
Goodness Ruth that sounds awful. What bit you if you donโt mind me asking? |
06:55 |
Paul & Ruth Boughton |
Not a clue, probably a horse fly. I always react badly to bites |
06:57 |
Greeneyes |
Oh those are nasty iv managed to avoid being bitten by them so far but my husband gets big lumps from their bites & just smaller lumps from midges |
07:01 |
Greeneyes |
Flora is fish calling |
07:03 |
Paul & Ruth Boughton |
Fortunately not any midges in Epsom |
07:04 |
Paul & Ruth Boughton |
07.03:27 Flora away |
07:05 |

07:20 |
Greeneyes |
Oh that was a close encounter but Flora was excellent in defence of the chicks & nest |
07:22 |
Paul & Ruth Boughton |
Flora did a grand job, managed to get a screenshot but couldnโt see if it was ringed |
07:27 |
Greeneyes |
I couldnโt see either Ruth doesnโt help Iโm on a phone |
07:29 |

07:56 |
Paul & Ruth Boughton |
Morning Juniper. Thanks for checking ๐ฅฐ |
07:58 |
Juniper |
If they were to dangle their legs a bit more in flight it would help! |
08:00 |
Paul & Ruth Boughton |
It would Juniper. Well that fish was a tiddler it didnโt last long. |

Baler twine still attached to chick on right ๐ |
09:06 |
Paul & Ruth Boughton |
Morning Val, the twine keeps reappearing, hopefully it will get buried in the nest and the chicks will be safe. |
09:08 |
Val Gall |
Chick on right walked to side of nest. Twine was dragging |
09:08 |

Any blue ring details ? |

Hi Victor HK0 (female) hatched 2014 near Loch Awe |
09:13 |
Juniper |
Yes Squish, got home yesterday. We saw the Poole ospreys - mum CJ7 and chicks on the nest and dad 022 riding the thermals above us. It was great! |
09:14 |
Victor Pearson |
Thanks@Val Gall ! |

Morning @Patrick Mc Phail :) |
09:17 |
Juniper |
First time I've seen ospreys in real life Ruth, it really was thrilling. |
09:18 |
Paul & Ruth Boughton |
That was fabulous Juniper. Seren was my first Osprey in the feather, I cried |
09:19 |

intruder? |
11:29 |
Livia Armstrong |
Morning everyone |
11:30 |
David Turnbull |
Looks like an intruder |
11:32 |
Livia Armstrong |
11:27 Yes she was mantling. The bailer twine is wrapped around Floraโs leg unfortunately |
11:35 |
David Turnbull |
I could see Flora and another 2 ospreys at one point. Maybe Harry chasing the intruder. |
11:44 |
Livia Armstrong |
Looks all settled now ๐ well spotted David |
11:49 |
David Turnbull |
Yes - hope she can get rid of that twine now |
11:50 |
Livia Armstrong |
๐ค hope so David. Back in a bit ๐ |
12:08 |
Val Gall |
Looks like twine is off Flora but still in nest ๐ค |
12:09 |
Juniper |
Oh... ๐ |
12:12 |
Livia Armstrong |
I can see why they bring it back, it looks very similar to nesting material |
12:14 |
Juniper |
Yes it does indeed. |
12:20 |
Livia Armstrong |
Thereโs a hidden chick at the front of the nest in case anyone is wondering where the other is |
12:36 |
Patrick Mc Phail |
needs to be gone. Ofc no ringing here. Otherwise could have been done then |
12:37 |
David Turnbull |
Just been out to the shop - had a look at the 3 local stork nests on the way back - the chicks are nearly as big as the adults now |
13:08 |
Juniper |
How lovely to have local stork nests - nothing that exciting round our way I'm afraid. |
13:12 |
David Turnbull |
There's always something worth watching wherever you are Juniper - We just moved to Portugal in January so Ive lots to learn. Lots of Swifts and House Martin nests close to home too. |
13:32 |
Juniper |
We do spot the odd raptor occasionally (usually a buzzard). The most unexpected was a sparrowhawk in our garden recently. I just about had time to ID it and it was away like a rocket! |
13:34 |
Sula |
Good afternoon Alyth, everyone. And Happy Solstice. Couldn't chat but have been perching. I'm glad you pointed out where 3rd chick Is, Livia, as I had a๐ฒ moment! Enjoy viewing. BBL๐ |
13:37 |

Sparrowhawks re stunning Juniper. Good reminder of the solstice Sula - tomorrow we can say "The nights are fair drawing in" ๐ |

17:07 |
Val Gall |

17:07 |
Sonia Drummond |
It's tangled up that twine that was on the nest the other day! This doesn't look good! ๐ฉ |
17:09 |
Livia Armstrong |
Come on little one ๐ซ |
17:11 |
Sonia Drummond |
I'm going back offline, can't bear to watch ๐ข |
17:12 |
Livia Armstrong |
Understandable Sonia. I hope itโs a happier picture when you return. I think itโs chick #2 |
17:14 |
Patrick Mc Phail |
absolutely disgusting! Baling twine discarded by some careless fool. |

17:19 |
Livia Armstrong |
17:17:58 chick recovers, hope he/she gets fish after all that energy used |
17:20 |
James Thompson |
Iโm not sure if that was bailer twine or the fact that Flora flattened it wish the flounder. It was basically like a cast sheep. |
17:20 |
Paul & Ruth Boughton |
Yabadabadoooooo, now we need the twine to go ๐ |
17:21 |
Livia Armstrong |
Whatever it is has been on the nest since yesterday. It was wrapped loosely around a chick yesterday and Floraโs leg this morning |
17:21 |
James Thompson |
Yes, the twine is a major concern. I donโt believe it was the cause in this instance. |
17:22 |
Livia Armstrong |
Ah yes sorry I mis understood. I realised after I posted ๐ |
17:23 |
Paul & Ruth Boughton |
It was on the nest when the cam switched to daylight yesterday. I was trying to find out when it came in, but couldnโt. What is important is happens going forward. Hope they will all be safe ๐ |
17:23 |
Patrick Mc Phail |
your prayers were answered Ruth ๐๐ป |
17:24 |
Paul & Ruth Boughton |
โค๐ |
17:24 |
James Thompson |
16:57:51 she flies over to other side of the nest and the chick does a backflip. Itโs managed to right itself though so thatโs the main thing. |
17:24 |
Livia Armstrong |
Poor thing. Glad it got some fish after that |
17:25 |
Paul & Ruth Boughton |
Thank goodness |
17:30 |
Patrick Mc Phail |
Absolutely agree ๐ Livia. Does Val know anyone able to go up the nest and remove it? |
17:36 |
Livia Armstrong |
I hope something can be done since itโs a human created issue ๐ค |
17:39 |
Paul & Ruth Boughton |
Absolutely Liv, |
17:39 |
Livia Armstrong |
Chick #3 got a good feed with the last fish |
17:39 |
Patrick Mc Phail |
my sentiments entirely Livia |
17:47 |
Paul & Ruth Boughton |
Hoping things work out. We have to trust Harry and Flora. They are an amazing pair. |
17:50 |
Patrick Mc Phail |
any younger and not sure the chick would have been able to free itself. So we now sit and pray ๐๐ป |
17:52 |
James Thompson |
Yeah, nothing will be done about it. The best you can hope for is a strong wind that takes it away or it goes when Harry leaves with a fish. |
17:57 |
Livia Armstrong |
The good news is, they are always growing and getting stronger |
17:59 |
Juniper |
Just looked back on the earlier drama! I think you were right James - Flora knocked the chick over when she moved to that edge of the nest. Well done little ' un for getting upright again, phew! |
18:00 |
Juniper |
That wretched twine does need to go though, or get buried. |
18:01 |
Livia Armstrong |
Well done chick, was a heart in mouth moment, it doesnโt seem worse for wear now at least ๐ค |
18:01 |
Val Gall |
@UKOI the nest is climbed in early season for camera work. Iโm in process of contacting climbers in case situation deteriorates |
18:02 |

Who makes the call on whether permission would be granted Val if something unforeseen was to happen?? |
18:09 |
Patrick Mc Phail |
all that matters is that we have a good outcome |
18:10 |
James Thompson |
Would it be NatureScot? |
18:13 |
Val Gall |
Climbers have Schedule 1 licences. I have also contacted landowners to inform them of situation should situation deteriorate |
18:15 |
James Thompson |
Ahh, thatโs perfect!! ๐ |
18:17 |
James Thompson |
Letโs hope it not required and it disappears by some other means without causing any issues. Thereโs no harm in being prepared though, well done!! |
